Scout Sunday at Eden

I look forward so very much to welcoming many of our scouting families to worship and fellowship this Sunday, March 8th.  Young leaders will participate in worship, and fellowship hour will be jointly hosted by the children and youth from these organizations so important to our Eden family and outreach.  We’ll continue our Lenten journey

Lent

It’s Lent. The colors are purple. The cross is up. We gather for Ash Wednesday tonight (communion and ashes). With many across the centuries and globe, we join those who say “yes” to a season of reflection, repentance and renewal. We carve out 40 days on the way to resurrection in which we remember Christ’s

Concert on Heart-Warming Groundhog Day

( Yes, it was also the Super Bowl 😉 ) Just a quick follow-up on the Fundraiser Concert for “Bridging Jeff Park” which we held in partnership with co-sponsors last Sunday at Copernicus People are still RAVING about the music – original composition, band, and vocalists!  THANK YOU especially to Jan and John H. Rizzo!

The Mighty Hearts of Soul

Exciting news from Bridging Jeff Park! We said an enthusiastic YES to a Benefit Concert which fell from heaven with the generous aid of Jan Rizzo, Eden friend, who’s been carrying the seed of this idea since before holidays.  Professional musicians Richard Gibbs and John H. Rizzo will bring the Mighty Hearts of Soul to

The Work of Christmas (has begun)

The lyrics to a wonderful Epiphany hymn say that Christ (and we) are the Light to the World… and after all the sentimental hoopla is over we carry on with embracing his mission in and through us.  I’m reminded of our Fall series on Holiness on Tuesdays, though, and that we’re called into space and

Peace

“Peace is not about perfection; it’s about connection.” I don’t know all of where that will take us this Sunday. But it’s a word that’s settled on my heart as I think about our worship and time in the Word for the Second Sunday of Advent. This week we will light the Candle of Peace

Do Not Forget Your Purpose

“Keep a clear eye toward life’s end. Do not forget your purpose and destiny as God’s creature. What you are in God’s sight is what you are and nothing more. Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take nothing that you have received…but only what you have given; a full heart enriched by honest

Gratitude

“At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer “Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” – Anonymous “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace

Totenfest

Why a “Festival of the Dead”? We need it! “Totenfest” is the name in German for the worship activities which honor the departed, and doing so in a way that is both thankful remembrance AND tender eternal connection.  It’s a human instinct for the well-being we know in tending wholesome ties to our ancestors and

Let God Lighten Your Load

We’ve been journeying with themes of “Letting Go” from Old Testament stories this month.  Join us this Sunday for a special worship service anchored in the Psalms in our readings, songs and prayers.  If you’re looking for the Word of the ages (aloud and in silent contemplation)… JOIN US.  LET GOD LIGHTEN YOUR LOAD!
