Throughout the decades, Eden members have sought to be a blessing beyond our walls through various mission offerings and service projects.

Our Local Food Pantry and Related Projects

We join a number of local churches in taking ongoing collections of non-perishable items for the Northwest Church of Christ Food Pantry. Also, we collect these and funds at our Annual Neighborhood Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service.

Our youth and families regularly volunteer to support Feed My Starving Children. Each December, we raise funds for The Salvation Army through our Annual Christmas Letter Fundraiser.

CROP Hunger Walk

For a number of years, a contingent from Eden has walked in the CROP Hunger Walk sponsored by Church World Service. In 2021, our marchers and donors raised more than $6,000. Our funds from the Crop Hunger Walk also support the important, local work of A Just Harvest, which works to end hunger with three strategies:

  1. Feeding hungry people at a local Community Kitchen
  2. Organizing people to work for a fair economy
  3. Creating local economic opportunities

Eden's Gym

Wholesome recreation has been one of Eden's values throughout our first century. Pre-Covid, our gym was used almost every weeknight by various groups of local teens and young adults. When the time is right, we hope to resume such outreach.

Honoring Retired Clergy

For many years, we have collected gifts for retired clergy and widowed spouses in need during the Christmas season. Our denomination's "Christmas Fund" (formerly "Veterans of the Cross”") provides Christmas gift checks to low-income, retired clergy and their widowed spouses. It also supplies emergency assistance and helps finance pension and health benefit supplementation for retired clergy and lay persons.

Denominational Support

We regularly give to Our Churches Wider Mission of the United Church of Christ. These funds support many varied resources and projects for the sake of vital local church ministries, training and supporting our clergy, and engaging our members in missions.
