“I am one of the pastors at Eden UCC. I have been called to Eden for five years and plan many more years. I came with a dream, a vision for this congregation to grow – spiritually and numerically. My whole career has been about discerning the will of God and repenting when something turned out to be my will. My theology is one that invites all to live a real life in Christ. If anything good happens it is a blessing of God. My invitation is to let God grow you here at Eden.” Pastor Steve has previously served congregations in the United Methodist and United Church of Christ denominations in Ohio and Chicagoland. His Doctor of Ministry degree at Chicago Theological Seminary focused on narrative theology, and he lives out his love of God’s story seen in our stories every day.

Jacki joined the Eden staff in the summer of 2014 after falling in love with the congregation during a consulting project earlier in the year. A native of North Dakota, she has lived in Chicago with her partner Carla since 1990. Jacki brings a deep love for the local church, a natural respect for small churches, and an enthusiasm about the spiritual practices of being community. A recent favorite quote is “One of the soul’s greatest longings is for a sense of rootedness” (Simone Weil). She is convinced that people today hunger for the experiences of belonging and roots which the local church can provide… if it faithfully lives out Christ’s grace for today’s needs. At Eden, she is leading the way in discerning new neighborhood relationships, outreach ministries and adult spiritual education. Ordained in the American Baptist Churches – USA, she is a certified life coach and author of the forthcoming book Forgive for Life: Finding the Way Forward.
